Updates - 2024

2024 04 21	• Updated page and system map for Mexico City, Mexico City, Mexico to reflect opening of Mexibús Line 4 extension to La Raza as well as opening of Mexibús Line 2A. In addition, corrections were made - firstly, the Mexibús station Valle Ecatepec had its name changed to remove the 'de' several years ago, and secondly, two infill stations opened on Mexibús Line 1 in June 2023. These changes have been retroactively applied to all (relevant) prior map versions.
2024 04 20	• Updated page and system map for Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to reflect opening of TransBrasil and VLT 4 on March 30, 2024 (full service on TransBrasil starting April 8, 2024) as well as the reopening of the Teleférico da Providência on April 7, 2024. Note that TransBrasil had been in limited trial operation since February 24, but without usage of dedicated lanes or corridor stations. In addition, fixes were made to the station names at Saens Peña and Colégio. These changes has been retroactively applied to all prior map versions.

Station names for the Light Rail continue to include certain designations not present on the official map (e.g. Union Station, PSU South) as these continue to be used on station signage.

2024 02 28	• Updated page and system map for Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to reflect opening of Terminal Gentileza and VLT Line 1 reroute into it on February 24, 2024 as well as VLT station name changes. As the current TransBrasil trial service (only for two hours a day, no service to any actual TransBrasil stations or dedicated lanes) does not meet the minimum standard for BRT, we are not yet showing it as operational on our map for the time being. In addition, a fix was made to the station name at Pedro Corrêa. This change has been retroactively applied to all prior map versions.

Union Pearson Express now referred to as Regional Rail on the website as it is back to regular service.

These changes have been retroactively applied to all prior map versions. • Updated page and system map for Montréal, Quebec, Canada to reflect exo rebranding and Montréal Metro line numbers now showing on official map. I originally did not implement these when the REM opened as exo had not implemented the new branding on their website, but they have now fully updated to using the new colors and line designations and so I've done the same.

After two and a half years, any hope of this being a temporary shutdown has pretty much disappeared, so it's time to reflect the current state of the network on our page and map. As only the service shut down and not all of the infrastructure, the busways are now being treated the same way as open busways on this website, but since part of the busway was shut down (and partially demolished), the remaining corridors no longer meet the minimum length to be considered BRT. The corridor has been grandfathered into the BRT List.
2023 03 12	• In preparation for a big upcoming project, the citation system used within the website has been upgraded to support Chicago style footnotes. Third party news articles within the core cities pages for the Metro Route Atlas have had their citations augmented to include authors, article titles, and publication dates.
2023 03 06	• Updated page and system map for São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil to reflect opening of infill stations between Barueri and Carapicuíba on February 25, 2023. The fact none of the busway stations on the entire EMTU Itapevi-Butantã corridor except the bus terminals were ever opened for service has been retroactively applied to the prior map version.
2023 03 05	• Added system map for Adelaide, South Australia, Australia • Corrected page and system map for São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil to reflect station name corrections for Prestes Maia (typo) and Terminal Grande Alvarenga (renamed in 2018 from Terminal Alves Dias), and to reflect that PS Central is eastbound only, not westbound only. Missing station names on SPTrans corridors backfilled. We'd like to thank SopaOfMacaco on Reddit for their new near-future São Paulo map, which helped us make additional corrections with regards to missing accents and identify the two station name issues mentioned prior.

They have been retroactively applied to all prior map versions. As part of this change, the old long term service change maps have been removed as they reflect a time when I thought they would actually be possible to maintain... and when there were only 11 cities covered on the Metro Route Atlas! • Updated page and system map for Detroit, Michigan, USA to reflect station name changes for Joe Louis Arena (now West Riverfront) and Convention Center (now Huntington Place) upon system reopening on May 20, 2022.

It is still TBD if we will aim to make each map reflect the historic 'truth on the ground' or not (e.g. Querétaro page and map at creation not being up to date), but minor fixes like typos or blatantly incorrect information on existing lines at the time of map creation will likely get retroactively fixed. • Added map notes to page for Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico
