Overview - Tampa

Located on the Tampa Bay, Tampa is the seat of Hillsborough County and the third largest city by population in Florida. It has approximately 400,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2019. The Tampa Bay metropolitan area (Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater) comprised 3,194,831 residents as of the 2019 US Census Bureau Estimate.


Tampa has a historic streetcar service.

TECO Streetcar

TECO Line Streetcar

The TECO Line Streetcar is a historic streetcar service on a Northeast-Southwest alignment. It runs from Ybor City in the northeast to Downtown Tampa in the southwest, serving 11 stations.


The TECO Line Streetcar was opened in October 2002 and the last extension to the line was to Downtown Tampa in December 2010. The TECO Line Streetcar is owned by the City of Tampa and operated by HART.
