Cities by Administrative Division

Welcome to the Cities portal here on Metro Route Atlas. Cities are grouped by country and are then alphabetized by name in English. The largest regional or administrative division is used as subtext. City pairs and groups are sorted by the larger city by population (or the one with rapid transit if the latter lacks rapid transit). For sorting by transit mode, refer to Cities by Mode.

This page also functions as a general TODO showcasing next steps. Attempts will be made to keep this list complete with all countries and cities with pages planned. Please note however that Rapid Transit, Light Rail, and S-train systems are the target of this website and that cities with exclusively streetcar/tram systems, bus rapid transit, and/or commuter rail may not make it onto this list. Cities that make it onto this list are at the webmaster's discretion. Refer to the Project Roadmap for which city pages are planned.

City names will have different weights dependent on the presence of their rapid transit systems. Cities with metro/rapid transit lines will be in all-caps.

Note that Airport People Movers that do not connect to other forms of rapid transit will not be included, and in general Airport People Movers will not be covered here. This also applies to Funiculars and Cable Cars that are not utilized as mass transit. The BRT label is only applied for systems that follow the BRT standard. Well-branded express, limited stop, and rapid buses with exclusive bus lanes do not automatically qualify as BRT. A list of BRT corridors on this website can be found at the BRT List.
