Located on the northwest side of the Yucatán Peninsula, Campeche (San Francisco de Campeche) is the capital and the largest city by population in Campeche. It has approximately 245,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2020. The Campeche metropolitan area comprised 294,077 residents as of the 2020 INEGI census.

Campeche Light Rail (DRT)
The Campeche Light Rail (DRT) is a bus rapid transit line on a reflected S alignment. It runs from Centro Histórico in the northwest to Estación Tren Maya in the southeast, serving 15 stations. It runs along a former rail corridor converted to a busway between Periférico Pablo García and Barrio la Ermita.
The Campeche Light Rail (DRT) was opened in July 2025. The Campeche Light Rail (DRT) is owned by the Government of the State of Campeche.
