Overview - Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz

Located on the Caribbean Sea, Barcelona is the capital of and the largest city by population in Anzoátegui. It has approximately 448,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2011. To the north, Puerto La Cruz is the second largest city by population in Anzoátegui. It has approximately 310,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2011. The Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz metropolitan area comprised 801,071 residents as of the 2013 INE census estimate.


Barcelona and Puerto La Cruz's rapid transit network consists of a single bus rapid transit service.

TransAnzoátegui

Opened 2015, TransAnzoátegui consists of a bus rapid transit service that serve the cities of Barcelona and Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui and the surrounding suburbs.

Line 1 (Línea 1)

Line 1 of TransAnzoátegui is a bus rapid transit service on a North-South alignment. It runs from Alberto Lovera in Puerto La Cruz in the north to Terminal in Barcelona in the south, serving 19 stations of which four are only served in a single direction. It runs primarily along Avenida Municipal (Troncal 9) in Puerto La Cruz and Avenida Intercomunal in Barcelona.


Line 1 was opened in November 2015.
