Overview - La Paz-El Alto

Located in the Choqueyapu Canyon, La Paz (Nuestra Señora de La Paz) is one of the capitals of and the third largest city by population in Bolivia. It has approximately 816,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2020. Above the canyon in the west, El Alto (split off from La Paz proper in 1985) is the second largest city by population in Bolivia. It has approximately 842,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2020. The La Paz-El Alto metropolitan area comprised 2,187,223 residents as of the 2012 INE census estimate.


La Paz and El Alto's rapid transit network consists of ten gondola lift services.

Mi Teleférico

Opened 2014, Mi Teleférico consists of ten gondola lift services that serve the cities of La Paz and El Alto, Bolivia.

Red Line (Línea Roja)

The Red Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on an East-West alignment. It runs from 16 de Julio in the west to Central in the east, serving 3 stations.


The Red Line was opened in May 2014. The Red Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Yellow Line (Línea Amarilla)

The Yellow Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on an East-West alignment. It runs from Mirador in the west to Del Libertador in the east, serving 4 stations.


The Yellow Line was opened in September 2014. The Yellow Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Green Line (Línea Verde)

The Green Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on a Northwest-Southeast alignment. It runs from Del Libertador in the northwest to Irpavi in the southeast, serving 4 stations.


The Green Line was opened in December 2014. The Green Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Blue Line (Línea Azul)

The Blue Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on an East-West alignment. It runs from Río Seco in the west to 16 de Julio in the east, serving 5 stations.


The Blue Line was opened in March 2017. The Blue Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Orange Line (Línea Naranja)

The Orange Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on an East-West alignment. It runs from Central in the west to Plaza Villarroel, serving 4 stations.


The Orange Line was opened in September 2017. The Orange Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

White Line (Línea Blanca)

The White Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on a North-South alignment. It runs from Plaza Villarroel in the north to Del Poeta in the south, serving 4 stations.


The White Line was opened in March 2018. The White Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Sky Blue Line (Línea Celeste)

The Sky Blue Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on a Northwest-Southeast alignment. It runs from De El Prado in the northwest to Del Libertador in the southeast, serving 4 stations.


The Sky Blue Line was opened in March 2018 and the last extension was to Prado in July 2018. The Sky Blue Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Purple Line (Línea Morada)

The Purple Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on a northeast-southwest alignment. It runs from Obelisco in the northeast to 6 de Marzo in the southwest, serving 3 stations.


The Purple Line was opened in September 2018. The Purple Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Brown Line (Línea Café)

The Brown Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on an East-West alignment. It runs from Busch in the west to De Las Villas in the east, serving 2 stations.


The Brown Line was opened in December 2018. The Brown Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.

Silver Line (Línea Plateada)

The Silver Line of Mi Teleférico is a gondola lift service on a Northwest-Southeast alignment. It runs from 16 de Julio in the northwest to Mirador in the southeast, serving 3 stations.


The Silver Line was opened in April 2019. The Silver Line is owned by the Government of Bolivia and operated by Mi Teleférico.
