Overview - Dallas
Located on the Trinity River, Dallas is the seat of Dallas County and the third largest city by population in Texas. It has approximately 1,345,000 inhabitants in the city proper as of 2018. The Dallas metropolitan area (Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington) comprised 7,539,711 residents as of the 2018 US Census Bureau Estimate.
Dallas's rapid transit network consists of four light rail services. It also has a regional rail service, two commuter rail services, a heritage streetcar service, and a modern streetcar service.
DART Light Rail
Opened 1996, DART Light Rail consists of four light rail services that serve the city of Dallas, Texas and the surrounding suburbs.
Red Line
The Red Line of DART Light Rail is a light rail service on a North-South alignment. It runs from Westmoreland in the south to Parker Road in the north via downtown Dallas, serving 25 stations.
The Red Line was opened in June 1996 and the last extension to the line was to Parker Road in December 2002. The Red Line is owned and operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Blue Line
The Blue Line of DART Light Rail is a light rail service on a North-South alignment. It runs from UNT Dallas in the south to Downtown Rowlett in the north via downtown Dallas, serving 23 stations.
The Blue Line was opened in June 1996 and the last extension to the line was to Downtown Rowlett in December 2012. The Blue Line is owned and operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Green Line
The Green Line of DART Light Rail is a light rail service on a North-South alignment. It runs from Buckner in the south to North Carrollton/Frankford in the north via downtown Dallas, serving 24 stations.
The Green Line was opened in September 2009 and the last extension to the line was to North Carrollton/Frankford in December 2010. The Green Line is owned and operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Orange Line
The Orange Line of DART Light Rail is a light rail service on a Northeast-West alignment. It runs from DFW Airport in the west to LBJ/Central and Parker Road (rush hours only) in the northeast via downtown Dallas, serving 30 stations.
The Orange Line was opened in December 2010 and the last expansion to the line was the opening of Hidden Ridge in April 2021. The Orange Line is owned and operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Trinity Railway Express
Trinity Railway Express
The Trinity Railway Express is a commuter rail service on an East-West. It runs from Fort Worth T&P Station in the west to Dallas Union Station in the east, serving 10 stations. There is no Sunday service.
The Trinity Railway Express was opened in December 1996 and the last extension to the line was to Fort Worth T&P in December 2001. The Trinity Railway Express is owned by both Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Trinity Metro.

TEXRail

The M-Line Trolley was opened in July 1989 and the last extension to the line was to St. Paul in June 2015. The M-Line Trolley is owned by the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority.

The Dallas Streetcar was opened in April 2015 and the last extension to the line was to Bishop Arts in August 2016. The Dallas Streetcar is owned by the City of Dallas and is operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
