Thank you for taking the Hinbo Line. This train is bound for Hakami. The next stop is Tsuruoka, HB-06.

Design Methodology

Taking a well-deserved break from excessive BRT lines, this map used Japan Set 3 and Japanese Town Names Extended, creating a rail-only map where my initial goal was to have electrified main lines with diesel rural branch lines.

...Except no bus feeders meant rail feeders which ran horrible deficits, and main lines equally debt-ridden for much of the run. This, in addition to a mistake where I enabled AI competitors, resulted in a map that died soon into its runtime. I also created a new coordinate transform for a map, but since I was routing local lines with dozens of curves and perilous amounts of single tracking, this actually made the map making process obnoxious as well. In the end I just made every line use the same electrified rail and rolling stock and never got very far. And of course, limited express lines switching between lines? Never happened.
